Maker Spotlight: Atomic Home Collection

Step into the world of Atomic Home Collection and you step directly into a time warp of mid-century kitsch, Polynesian pop, and groovy 1970s nostalgia. Founded by April Santos in Punta Gorda, Florida, Atomic Home Collection is a vibrant blend of handbuilt ceramics and carefully curated vintage treasures. Living the retro lifestyle herself—right down to the cone-shaped Malm fireplace in her own home—April brings decades of collecting passion and hands-on artistry to our mercantile collective.

Behind the Scenes in the Studio

If you walked into April’s studio on any given day, you’d catch a whirlwind of creative energy: slabs of clay being rolled out, glaze testing across every inch of counter space, and an eclectic playlist spanning everything from classic rock to vintage oldies and hip-hop. For April, pottery is both a creative outlet and an essential anchor—one made even richer by the genuine connections formed with the people who collect her work.

Meet April Santos

The Art & The Craft

April’s original pottery combines an ancient craft with iconic mid-century silhouettes, playful textures, and elaborate glazes. Her studio work ranges from retro, sassy cats bursting with attitude to statement art pottery pieces that showcase daring glaze combinations.

Her creative process is equal parts technique and joyful chaos. Working with stoneware, porcelain, and custom tools, April builds each piece by hand—sometimes even experimenting with wild clay recovered right from local soil. Alongside her ceramic work, April curates an ever-evolving selection of vintage fashion, Fiesta ware, accessories, and tiki treasures rescued from estate sales, private collections, and local finds.

"My pottery is handbuilt in stoneware and porcelain, combining an ancient craft with mid-century shapes, playful kitsch, and elaborate glaze work... Whether handmade or handpicked, everything has personality—life’s too short for boring stuff!"

— April Santos
